In February 2000 when Hope Africa University
started, it launched majors in Bible and Theology, Education, Business
and Administration, and Social Work. Each of these majors has one or
more minors.
We have introduced a new department of Sciences
in Computer Studies with concentrations: Bachelor of Science in
Computer Science and Bachelor of Science in Computer and Management
Information Systems. A new minor, Special Education, has been
introduced in the Department of Education while Social Work Department
has two tracks: Counseling and HIV/AIDS Education and Prevention. A new
graduate program has been introduced for those wishing to farther their
theological education.
As a university facing African realities (wars,
poverty, illiteracy, injustice, tribalism) our objective is to produce
graduates who are "integrative", that is persons who are able to
address African human issues competently, willingly and sacrificially
regardless of the situations they are working in.
Dr. Elie Buconyori, Vice
Chancellor, and Rev. Eleazar Habiyakare, Deputy Vice Chancellor for
Academic Affairs, present their goals for Hope Africa University and
its students.
