Memorial
Rooms in the Hall of
Fame
There
are still 39 rooms available as memorials in what we call the Hall of
Fame. These may be
dedicated either to
recognizing or honoring someone, or as memorials.
The cost per room is $2500. Plaques are
placed on the doors of the rooms so the students can appreciate the
gift on
their behalf. Why
is it called the ‘Hall
of Fame?’ Because
among all the worthy
names are 22 missionaries, numbers of missionary children, 5 African
pastors, 5
bishops (African and American) and their wives, one archbishop
(Anglican—a dear
friend) and his wife, a number of missionary parents, and many honored
supporters of missions, lovers of Africa who identify with the vision
of Hope
Africa University. Walking
down the
hallway on third floor where the plaques have been installed, as I did
in
February, is like a walk through memory, vision and affection. Our parents are there,
Marlene’s and
mine. How thrilled
they would be (and,
no doubt, would protest their unworthiness)!

Needs
and Opportunities 2
The
next big project for the
University is the three-story academic building.
It is an enormous building and will
contain classrooms
(over 40), three labs, 27 offices (faculty and administration), and the
library
(three levels). Here
are some of the
unit costs: The
cost per classroom is
$24,000, for an office, $8,500 per unit, the library, $45,000 per
level, the
radio station (without equipment) $25,000, the TV studio (without
equipment)
$25,000. These are
all available for
memorial gifts. These
are not just
classrooms or offices, bricks and mortar.
They are part of a living Christian institution
which will change its
world and mark lives for all eternity.
